Residents were left staring skyward on Monday night after a series of mysterious glowing lights appeared over End, moving slowly in formation before vanishing into the clouds.

The spectacle, visible for nearly 20 minutes, prompted dozens of calls to the council and at least three to the local UFO hotline. Witnesses described the lights as “otherworldly” and “too organised to be stars.”

“I was locking up the shop when I saw them,” said greengrocer Dennis Pike. “Six or seven bright dots, all lined up. They were moving together like they were on a string. I’ve never seen anything like it—they must be aliens, coming to enslave us.”

Dog-walker Patricia Green told The End Times: “At first I thought it was planes, but they were too close together. My Labrador refused to move. He just sat and stared. What did he know?”

Excitement quickly spread on social media, with several residents speculating that End had become the latest hotspot for extraterrestrial visitors. One Facebook user wrote: ‘They’re definitely scouting us. Hope they like the statue of Cedric Blott.’

But by Tuesday morning, the truth was revealed. The glowing display was not the work of aliens but a scheduled flyover by a fleet of StarLink satellites, part of a communications system being rolled out across Europe.

“People aren’t used to seeing them yet,” explained local amateur astronomer Colin West. “They reflect the sun in a way that makes them look like a row of bright pearls strung across the night sky. Very beautiful, but sadly not Martians.”

The council confirmed that no extraterrestrial landings had occurred, though Councillor Gloria Spence did admit: “If aliens were planning a visit to Earth, End would be an excellent starting point. We’re very welcoming, and we have luminous wheelie bins.”
